Photo by Kelleys-Creations. Shopping in Times Square.

If you need to get away on vacation than now is the ideal time. Airlines are competing for your business as well as resorts. You can find phenomenal deals all over the world.

Have you always dreamed of seeing New York? You can find an exceptional deal with nynytours.com. Not only will you see New York, you will basically have an all inclusive trip planned just for you! The price is right and breakfast and dinner is included.

Most hotels are in the heart of Times Square. You can have up to four people per hotel room. If you have three people in your room, then you can split the cost three ways. Four people, you can split the bill four ways.

You will get to see the top of the Empire State Building and take in the breathtaking view of the city. You will get a free bus tour pass for a full day plus. Take a ride over to China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, etc. Ride the bus at night and enjoy the bright city lights. You will get a free pass to use for a certain amount of time on the subway. This could be your first ride on the subway. It’s not as scary as it may seem if you are from the country!

For breakfasts you will not just get a doughnut or hard roll, you will get to order eggs, pancakes, sizzling bacon, hash browns, etc. The company chooses one restaurant for you to go to every morning, usually within walking distance to better serve you.

You get a choice of dinner restaurants all on Restaurant Row. Each restaurant was fantastic that I visited with my girlfriends. Tips were even included in the price, although we could leave extra if we felt we wanted to. Enjoy a thick and juicy steak, a cocktail, or a slice of famous New York pizza. Our favorite place was the famous Tavern on the Green which cost a little extra for our package deal but well worth it.

See a Broadway Play that is included! (Most tickets are $100.00 per show.) We chose Hairspray and it was amazing! We even met some of the cast members after the show by chance.
A guided boat tour is included with an up close view of the Statue of Liberty. You’ll see her grace and beauty.

You will not be bored in New York. Even if New York is not your cup of tea, you can find amazing deals on places to travel in this current economy. After all, you work hard and you deserve it.

Make Money Making Gift Baskets

You can make money making gift baskets and sell them online, at craft fairs, to family and friends, and have gift basket parties. Call friends that are Realtors or businesses that need Christmas gifts for clients. You may get a huge chunk of your earnings from this.

Gift baskets are perfect for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, newborn babies, graduations, massage gift baskets, etc. The possibilities are endless. Choose your theme and run with it.
Buy baskets online in a large quantity to get the best deal and most likely free shipping.

Buy your products at discount stores, online and some places even let businesses get an even better discount. You will have to file for a business license to prove you are really a business.
Some examples of gift baskets to make money selling them are:

A Romantic Anniversary Gift Basket for Two:
Purchase a gorgeous gift basket, place a pretty towel in the gift basket such as a wine with grapes on it design and hang the towel over the edge, two candles with candle holders, a bottle of red wine, homemade spaghetti sauce, a chunk of mozzarella cheese, a single rose, two hand painted wine glasses (easily do-it-yourself), a loaf of French bread, a clove of garlic and a romantic jazz CD.

Wine or Martini Gift Basket: Do you have a family member or friend who likes to try new martini drinks or wine? Have fun making up a gift basket for that person. First know if the person likes sweet or sour martinis or red or white wines before choosing. Add a chunk of cheese, some fancy crackers, whimsical napkins, smoked oysters, a fun wine bottle topper, either unique martini or wine glasses, large olives for the martini basket, or a grape and wine table cloth.

Of course you can post both baskets online and make them up for craft fairs and home parties to sell. Be sure to include your business card inside of the basket.

Once you have made up a basket take a photo of it and post it online onto a website that you have created, Etsy.com, eBay or Craig’s List.

You can use your baskets as gifts for family and friends as everyone loves it when people know them and make something personal just for them.

Have Fun Making Money

You can have fun making money by drawing on small tiles. The tiles look hand painted.

First you will need to buy either tiles at a craft store such as Hobby Lobby or buy a Scrabble game. It is less expensive to purchase the Scrabble game as you get over eighty tiles for under $15.00. The wood tiles come in packages of five for a few dollars. You will need thin magic markers that your kids use for school. You will also need Mod Podge to seal your drawings. You can purchase paint for wood in small bottles at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. Don’t forget the small paint brushes, too. You will need one paint brush for the Mod Podge and one to paint with.

You can draw holiday scenes and characters, popular items such as skulls, wine, martini glasses, glue on sparkly gems, paint modern miniature designs, etc. Let your mind wander and have fun.

Once you draw or paint the picture on the tile, let it dry overnight. The following day you can seal the tile with Mod Podge. Do not seal it the same day you paint and/or draw it as the marker and/or paint will smear.

Next you can choose to make the tiles into a necklace, pin or magnet. You will need to pick up bails for the necklace tiles, small pins and magnets to be glued onto the small tiles. You may want to invest in craft glue for wood to make sure the backings stay secure. Easily glue your backing choice and let dry.

I would sell the necklaces for $6.00 each and the pins and magnets for $2.50 or $3.00. (The bails are a little pricier and look fancier than the pins or magnets.)

Sell your tiles online on Etsy.com and/or your own website, craft fairs or you can even have fun at your own jewelry party for family and friends to purchase.

Your kids can help you design the tiles. My eight year old helped me and his tiles look just as good as mine. Just about all of them look whimsical which a lot of people like. Enjoy being creative and have fun making money selling your own mini artwork drawings and paintings. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Advertise Your Business in Tough Economic Times

Catch More Bees with Advertising

If you have your own business you may think during this economic time you should cut back your spending on advertising. This is not the case. You should continue to advertise now if not more. After all, your competitor is advertising to keep his or her business afloat.

Advertise through the newspaper, heavily online and let your employees know that your business is doing fine. Tell your employees that you plan to expand in the future and your reward will be more business for you. How? Your employees will tell their friends and family that your business is going strong. This will help make your employees feel they have a secure job. Also, your employees’ family and friends will spread the word about your business causing more advertising about your business. The hidden benefit is word of mouth advertising is free.

Be sure to keep in close contact with your customers. You especially want to keep in very close contact with your main customers so that other businesses that specialize in the same type of business as you do, do not steal your customers away. Ways you can keep in contact with your customers is to offer specials on products, send out thank you e-mails or letters to your best customers that you appreciate their business. In the thank you e-mails or letters you may want to include a discount off of their next order. Your dedicated customers will appreciate being rewarded for staying loyal to you. How many times have you seen companies offer "new customers only" rewards? For loyal customers this does not seem fair and it can make them actually turn bitter towards a company.

During tough economic times keep your company’s name a household word to help your business thrive. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Survive the Economy--Walking Dogs

People love their pets. Dogs are a part of many families. Most people think of their dog as a true family member that they love unconditionally. People spend a fortune on their dogs especially with vet bills all of the way down to dog clothing.

One thing many families do is work and the children are off to school for the day. Who is there to entertain the dog? No one. The dog sits bored and waits for their owner(s) to come back home.

Here is where you come in. You can offer to walk neighborhood dogs for money. You can offer to walk a dog for $10.00 per thirty minutes. Just think if you walk three dogs in thirty minutes you have made $30.00. You will have to make sure the three dogs get along well before walking them together. If you have another three dogs to walk for thirty more minutes, you have now increased to $60.00 per day.

If a family has two dogs you may want to offer a deal of thirty minutes for $15.00 for two dogs. You may want to be flexible and walk dogs three times per week for people who cannot afford to pay you every day.

Make up a catchy business name. On your flier show how much family members love their dog and how happy (and healthy) they will be making their dog with a thirty minute walk per day.

Hand out fliers in your town or city paper boxes. (Do not put your fliers in mailboxes as that is a federal offense.) Hang fliers up in your town or city at all local businesses that allow you to. Advertise in your small local newspaper.

People are paying big bucks these days putting their dog in Doggy Daycare. You walking their dog for $10.00 per thirty minutes is a steal. People will feel good knowing their dog is getting a good walk in and some company for a part of their day while they wait for their master to come home. Since no one will be home, you will have to set up with the owner ahead of time to get a house key or have them hide the key for you.

You can enjoy being with man’s best friend, make money and get your daily exercise in. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Make Money Housecleaning

Become your own boss and make money housecleaning. If you are thorough and fast you can make fantastic money. The first thing you will want to do is know how to clean. Sure, most people know the basics, but can you clean well enough for a client?

I used to have a small housecleaning business. I trained for three months at a cleaning company but was not making much money. I decided to go out on my own so I could keep all of the money I made. I ended up with more than enough clients that I cleaned for weekly, bi-weekly, three times per month and monthly. I helped other people start their own housecleaning business by giving them the information on how I started my own business and information on cleaning.

The first rule of thumb is to clean from the top of the room to the bottom. You will want to invest in a cobweb tool. You can find a cobweb tool at a discount store such as Wal-Mart. Take the cobweb tool and gently dust around the ceilings. Even if you do not see any cobwebs, take the tool and dust over it, as they may appear in a few days and the client will think you did not do your job very well. Next use Windex for all mirrors, glass, TV screen, etc. Do not forget light switches. You will want to do this before using wood cleaner so you do not leave smear marks.

Bring out the clients vacuum and vacuum lampshades and any furniture. Be sure to lift any cushions and vacuum underneath. Many people eat while watching television and they will know if you skipped this step. Once finished, take the cobweb tool and dust off the baseboards and doors in the room.

Lastly, take a dab of lemon oil or rose oil and put on a very small piece of paper towel. Vacuum up the paper towel and vacuum the room. You will have an extra fresh and clean smelling room.
Clean bathrooms well. Added tip: Once glass shower doors are clean and rinsed off well, take a clean and dry cloth and put lemon oil on it. Evenly put the lemon oil on the glass shower door. This will leave the door extra sparkly especially if there is soap scum you cannot get off of the door.

In the kitchen an added tip is to use Murphy’s Oil mixed in water to clean wooden kitchen cabinets. Floors in all rooms look best when washed on your hands and knees.

To advertise your new business put an ad in the local newspaper. Tell your friends and family. Hang business cards in all local businesses. Once you get one or two clients, word of mouth will spread how good you are at cleaning and how nice it is to come home from a long day’s work to a clean house.

With the economy as it is I would recommend advertising in wealthier areas. Once the economy and jobs have improved you could advertise in all areas.

To find out how much people are paying to have their house cleaned, call a large cleaning business and have them give your home a free estimate. Or ask people who have cleaning people what the current rate is.

When a client calls you, offer a free estimate. Go over each room with the client. Ask what they want. Write it down in a notebook so you will remember and look very professional. Let the client choose which day during the week he/she wants you to clean their home. First come, first served basis. Friday fills up fast!
Added tip: Let the client know if you accidentally missed something to please tell you. You would rather know than having the client upset. This will build an excellent relationship between you and the client. You may want to include a form that you are not responsible for anything broken. Tell the client to put anything of extreme value that cannot be replaced away when you come to clean in case an unfortunate accident happens.

Make Money as a Piano Teacher

Use your musical talent to make money. If you know how to play the piano you can become a piano teacher. Even if you are limited on the piano, you can still teach beginning piano.

In order to make money teaching the piano you should also have patience. You will be teaching your students repetitive songs and steps. Your students may be young or even curious adults who have always wanted to learn the piano.

To teach piano lessons, first show your student where to place his or her hands on the piano. Show your student the note C. Make sure his or her hands are properly held in position on the piano.

Most piano lessons will be thirty minutes long. At first thirty minutes is a good idea as your students are learning a lot at once. You do not want to overwhelm your students. You want them to come back for their second and third lessons!

To charge for piano lessons check around your community and surrounding communities what your competition is charging. (In my area piano teachers are charging $10.00 to $18.00 for thirty minutes of teaching.) Make sure you are comparable to their rates. You may want to charge a little less, but it is not necessary. Do not charge too low or people will think you are not qualified.

To advertise you should use your computer to make an ad. Choose an interesting picture to capture people’s attention. Bright paper is a good idea to stand out from other advertisements. Hang your signs at the local and surrounding grocery stores, gas stations, Laundromats, etc. Also, send out e-mails to family and friends announcing your new endeavor. Ask them to please pass the e-mail to their friends and family in your area. Make sure you include your phone number and/or e-mail address at the bottom of the e-mail.

Prepare to work evenings and Saturdays as most children are at school and adults are at work. If you work second shift, you could always teach piano lessons in the summer when children are out of school.

Enjoy making money teaching piano lessons while brushing up your piano playing. You may teach other instruments such as the guitar, flute, drums, etc., in place of the piano to make money. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Make Money Tutoring

These days so many children need extra help with their homework. Gone are the days we adults went to school. Things are learned much earlier and quicker. In kindergarten children already learn how to write sentences. Granted, not all of the words will be spelled correctly as some words are spelled phonetically.

If you are competent in school classes you could become a tutor for children. You could become a tutor for any age. Parents are charged $20.00 to $40.00 an hour for a tutor. Parents do pay this amount of money as they want their child or children to pass.

I work in the school system and much of the schoolwork you can do. As long as the child brings the book, all of the directions are in the book. I have found a lot of the answers for children’s homework are bolded in the textbook. This starts to occur in fourth and fifth grade especially in science and social studies. You can easily find answers in the back of the book. The main keywords used in each chapter are in the back of the book like a dictionary. You can find the definition to the word and the page number the word is used. This is extremely helpful to find out your answers.

I would expect the students you would have would be fifth grade and up. Fourth grade starts to get pretty tough with a lot of homework. Most parents are still able to help their children at this level. Fifth grade starts to get pretty hard. A lot of parents do not have time, due to careers, to help their children with homework so a tutor would be perfect.

Flash cards work well to learn. Write the word on the student’s side to read and the answer on the back of the flashcard.

Advertise at local schools and grocery stores in your neighborhood that you are available for hire.

You can make money tutoring children by helping them with their homework, spelling words and tests. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Easy Money from Babysitting

If you love children than earning easy money from babysitting is perfect for you. It is not easy watching children all day. The “easy” part of babysitting comes from the amount of time you will be babysitting.

A lot of parents work and need to get to work before their children have to go to school. You would be the answer to parent’s prayers. Your babysitting would consist of before school and after school.

Parents could drop their child or children off at your home before they head to work. You would just have to let parents know what time your babysitting business opens. Some people need to get to work by 5:00 a.m. so they may ask if 4:15 a.m. is okay to drop the kids off. This may or may not be okay with you. Most before school babysitters open their home up at 6:00 a.m.
If you are home all day you may want to baby-sit after school, too. If you live close to the elementary school you can pick up the children and walk home. Otherwise, you can pick up some of the children and parents would have to work it out to have someone drop their child or children off at your house.

Before and after school you will want to offer healthy snacks. After school you may want to offer help with homework depending on the ages and how many children you are watching. You can organize a dedicated area for homework for the older children that have to get work done.

You will want to figure out ahead of time the amount to charge per child based on snack cost and homework services. Since you will be watching children for only a limited amount of time during the day, most parents really need someone they can depend on so you can charge a higher fee.
You will need to check your state laws to find out how many children you are able to baby-sit for at a time. If there are two adults you can add more children to your babysitting business.

If you have never babysat, use friends and/or previous employers as references.

Enjoy making easy money babysitting for a few hours a day and have the majority of your day free to do things you want to do. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Variety of Ways to Make Money Sewing

You can prosper in this economy by sewing. The first thing you want to do is choose a name for your sewing business. Once you have chosen a business name, print out business cards to hand out. Print up a list for prices you want to charge for each type of sewing project. Make sure you have receipts with your business name on for customers. You can easily make these on your computer if you have one.

You can hem pants on your sewing machine for a certain price. Fix zippers on pants and coats for a certain price. Usually coat zippers are a higher priced as this takes more labor time. If you have a special sewing machine you can even replace and sew zippers to leather purses or jackets.

You can make curtains for homes and businesses. To do this you will want to charge a $25.00 fee to come and measure the windows of the house or business. Let the customer know they will get the $25.00 back when they order curtains. This will save you money in the long run of people calling you to measure their windows and then deciding not to order. You will have the $25.00 to cover your time and gas money if this happens.

Before you advertise to sew custom made curtains, it would be wise to get pattern and material books for customers to look over. Every time you do make curtains for a customer, take a picture. Start a portfolio so you can show future potential customers your sewing work.

You may want to expand your business and order custom made blinds. Your customers will have more of a variety to choose from.

Before you start working, be sure to get a business license in the city or town you live in. You can easily apply for a business license at your village hall. The fee is somewhere around $25.00 per year. You can write this off on your taxes. Be sure to keep track of your mileage, receipts for material, needles, thread, etc., for your taxes, too.

You can easily prosper in a tough economy by sewing for others. If you are amazing at it, customer word of mouth will keep your business thriving. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Rent-a-Husband to Prosper in the Current Economy

Do you have a handy husband? Or are you a husband that is mechanically inclined? You may even be a single man looking to earn extra cash. Rent-a-Husband or Rent-a-Handyman is the perfect opportunity for you. You can make extra money doing things that you are experienced in and enjoy.

A lot of people are busy with their careers and families and do not have time or the knowledge to fix things around their house. Here is where you come in. You can fix garage doors, washing machines, change oil on vehicles to simple things for the elderly such as change light bulbs, paint the walls, shampoo carpeting, install safety railings in bathtubs and showers, etc.

Outdoor work you could do is landscaping, raking, and snow shoveling, building and/or staining decks and mowing the lawn. Get some fresh air and exercise while making money.

To advertise your newfound way of supplementing your income in the current economy is to hang signs up around the town you live in. Hang signs up in the surrounding towns you are willing to travel to, to do business. You can also put an ad in your town and the neighboring town’s small newspaper.

Remember to save your receipts for anything you invest in. Keep track of your gas mileage to and from homes and stores if you have to purchase items to fix things for your clients. Save all of this information for your income taxes so you can write them off.

Enjoy the freedom of working for yourself. Some of your clients may become regularly scheduled business.

Keep prices reasonable yet profitable so people can afford you. Once people see how wonderful it is to hire you, slowly raise prices if you need to.

Rent-a-Husband is a fantastic opportunity for you to earn extra money. Who knows, you may do so well at this you may want to quit your day job! For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Artwork T-shirts for Sale to Make Money

* Skulls are popular at this time.

If you are fairly artistic you can make money selling your own t-shirts. All you have to do is invest in fabric markers. You can find a pack of six different colored fabric markers for $9.99 at Wal-Mart. The fabric markers come in primary colors and fluorescent. I would advise you to purchase both packages of fabric markers.

Next you will want to invest in good quality t-shirts. I decided to specialize in children’s artwork t-shirts. You can find children size t-shirts online for a great price. I bought the brand name Hanes t-shirts for a mere $2.00 a t-shirt. I ordered over $60.00 in small, medium and large, so that made me qualify for free shipping.

When your t-shirts arrive you will want to wash and dry them. Next I take a book and place it inside the t-shirt for a smooth surface. The book in between the t-shirt will help from keeping the markers from accidentally bleeding through to the back of the t-shirt.

Have fun drawing whatever your heart desires! Think of designs that will appeal to children, teenagers or adults if you choose to design t-shirts for all age groups.

You can freehand draw or if you want to, take a coloring book and trace the pages through the t-shirt. You may not be able to see the coloring book picture very well, so take a black marker and trace the picture. You will see the picture really good once you accomplish this step. Let the picture you traced onto the t-shirt dry overnight. The following day you can color in the picture. You do not want to color it right away as sometimes the colors will bleed together making your artwork look unprofessional.

Next you will want to take pictures of each t-shirt. You can easily open up your own online website. One site you can use for free is freewebs.com. The template is already set up so you can set up your site with no problem. Another site you can sell your t-shirts on is Etsy.com. You will have a small fee to advertise your items but a lot of people belong to Etsy. Etsy has many creative people with a variety of items for sale.

Tell your friends, family and look for craft shows you can sell your artwork t-shirts at. Be sure to put a tag on the t-shirt to let people know to wash the t-shirt inside out to help make the design last a long time.

You can give your children, nieces and nephews your special t-shirts for gifts. If you have children who are invited to classmate birthday parties, you can save money on gifts by giving your t-shirts as unique gifts.

Have fun making extra money using your own talent. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Make Money at Home--Medical Transcription

If you are looking to supplement your income or find a new career, then medical transcription could be the right move for you.

There are many benefits to becoming a medical transcriptionist. Some examples:
*You can work from home.
*Make your own hours.
*Save wear & tear on your vehicle.
*Save money on gasoline.
*Save money on buying office clothes.
*Save money by not having to pay for a babysitter if you have children at home.

It is quite easy to become a medical transcriptionist. You can go to school at a technical college for one year to get your medical transcription degree or you may opt to take the classes online to receive your degree.

Classes you will have to take to become a medical transcriptionist with a degree:
Medical Transcription I and II
Medical Terminology I & II
Human Anatomy
Body & Disease
Communications
Psychology
Law & Ethics
Pharmacology
A year long computer program.

The classes are quite interesting, especially Body & Disease. You will learn how to spell diseases, the causes of the diseases and the symptoms of the diseases. If you are interested in the anatomy of humans you will enjoy this program.

The Medical Transcription classes will teach you how to type the medical terms correctly. You will learn how to listen on head phones and type what the physician is dictating.

Medical Terminology is interesting as you will learn how to spell huge medical words and how a lot of words are a combining form. Such as “itis”. Itis means “inflammation.” You have heard of appendicitis. Appendicitis simply means inflammation of the appendix. Or another example is dermatitis. Derm means “skin” and “itis” means inflammation. So dermatitis means inflammation of the skin. You will have to learn how to spell the medical terms and define the medical terms to pass this course.

Human anatomy will teach you the names of the body parts, bones, muscles; you will learn how the heart functions, etc.

Some technical colleges will have you take communications and psychology as two courses you need to get your degree.

Law & ethics will stress the importance of confidentiality.

Pharmacology will teach you the medications, how to spell the medications and what the medications are used for. Many medications sound the same when you are typing them, so it will help you if you know the disease(s) the patient has so you can associate it correctly.

You will learn how to use macros and many tips on how to type and finish a document as quickly as possible. You can become a medical transcriptionist even if you are a poor speller. Study hard in school. Once you are at a job you will have a medical terminology spell check program or you can invest in the program if you work at home.

Medical transcription is truly a wonderful career choice or a fantastic way to supplement your income part-time. Do not let the courses scare you. Many people have found that the program is much harder than the actual job. This is great as you would rather go into a job highly knowledgeable and have the job be a breeze than vice versa.

There are many jobs available online. You will need to have a computer, headphones, and a Dictaphone to do the medical transcription job. Accuracy is highly important. After some time you will become very quick and make great money. Most companies pay-per-line.

To make money writing it helps if you love to write. You will need to know punctuation and grammar. Your computer will help you with spelling. It is wonderful that you can use the Thesaurus to help your writing skills.

To get started, Google on the Internet "make money writing", "make money writing articles" and/or "freelance writing." You should see a number of websites pop-up that you can join.

You will make anywhere between $1.00 per article up to even $20.00+ an article. You can choose one article to write and projects of articles that can have as many as fifty+ at a time. Most sites will give you a time frame to complete the articles. The average time to get your articles written is three days. You may have to review their website and write using keywords they want you to use. Most online companies want you to write articles using search engine optimization. Search engine optimization means you use the keywords computer users will be searching for.

Example: "Chocolate chip cookie recipes." The computer user types that in to find recipes. In order for your article to be on the first page of Google you will want to use the keywords "chocolate chip cookie recipes" and "chocolate chip cookies" 5% of the time. Depending on how long your article has to be, will determine how many times you must type the keyword phrases. Most articles are 400 words.
