Work at Home --Virtual Assistant

Enjoy the freedom of being a work-at-home virtual assistant. Photo copyright by Nik.

Make great money while you work at home as a virtual assistant. A few qualities to ask yourself before becoming a virtual assistant is:

Am I organized?
Am I an accurate typist?
Am I a quick typist?
Do I like talking on the telephone?
Do I work well independently?

If the answer is “yes” to all of these questions, you may make great money while you work at home as a virtual assistant.

Your duties as a virtual assistant may include talking to customers and your boss on the telephone. Make sure you have a cell phone plan with a lot of minutes as most likely you will be in a different state than your boss and most of your customers. You will probably have a lot of data entry to type into the computer so being an accurate and quick typist is very helpful. Being organized is imperative. If you were to work in an office you would need to be organized. Organization and working independently will help with getting the job done correctly and prioritize what needs to be taken care of first.

To find work at home virtual assistant jobs you can look online. Use a search engine to find jobs when you type in “virtual assistant.” Or a popular online company is elance.com. On elance you can bid on jobs after reading information on what the client wants. To join elance you will have to take a test to make sure you understand how the online company works. It is free to join elance, but you will pay a fee of around 6.75% to 8.75% per wages of each job you accept.

Make Money at Home Doing Laundry and Ironing

Are you looking for a job working at home? You can advertise that you will do other peoples’ laundry and ironing.

First look at your neighborhood. What would be a fair price to charge your customers? Make sure to consider in the bill if you have to pay for your own city water, laundry soap and your time.

If you do decide to make money at home doing laundry and ironing make sure that you know how to fold clothes and iron properly. If you are not sure you can always ask someone or use a search engine such as Google to see information. Some websites even have photographs to show you how.

Advertising
Make fliers and get out there and exercise and put the ad in people’s newspaper box. (Do not put your ad in other people’s mailboxes as it is a federal offense. If someone were to complain you can get a huge fine.) Or put your ad in people’s doors if they do not have a newspaper box.
You may want to include a 10% discount on customer’s first order. (This will help people try your service and feel how nice it is to have someone else do a monotonous job that they may not have time for.)

Hang fliers at businesses in your area and surrounding areas that are not too far for customers to drop their laundry off at.

Make a Deal with Your Laundromat
You may want to speak to the owner of the Laundromat in town. If they do not offer the service of ironing, you can ask if you may advertise to do it. Customers may call you ahead of time that they will be washing and drying their clothes and you may have to pick up the laundry from the Laundromat. Bring the laundry home and you can make money folding and ironing their clothes.

To make your job more interesting you can listen to music while folding and ironing or watch television such as a movie you have always wanted to watch but never had the time to do. Books on tape work well, too.

Easy Money from Babysitting

If you love children than earning easy money from babysitting is perfect for you. It is not easy watching children all day. The “easy” part of babysitting comes from the amount of time you will be babysitting.

A lot of parents work and need to get to work before their children have to go to school. You would be the answer to parent’s prayers. Your babysitting would consist of before school and after school.

Parents could drop their child or children off at your home before they head to work. You would just have to let parents know what time your babysitting business opens. Some people need to get to work by 5:00 a.m. so they may ask if 4:15 a.m. is okay to drop the kids off. This may or may not be okay with you. Most before school babysitters open their home up at 6:00 a.m.
If you are home all day you may want to baby-sit after school, too. If you live close to the elementary school you can pick up the children and walk home. Otherwise, you can pick up some of the children and parents would have to work it out to have someone drop their child or children off at your house.

Before and after school you will want to offer healthy snacks. After school you may want to offer help with homework depending on the ages and how many children you are watching. You can organize a dedicated area for homework for the older children that have to get work done.

You will want to figure out ahead of time the amount to charge per child based on snack cost and homework services. Since you will be watching children for only a limited amount of time during the day, most parents really need someone they can depend on so you can charge a higher fee.
You will need to check your state laws to find out how many children you are able to baby-sit for at a time. If there are two adults you can add more children to your babysitting business.

If you have never babysat, use friends and/or previous employers as references.

Enjoy making easy money babysitting for a few hours a day and have the majority of your day free to do things you want to do. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.

Make Money at Home--Medical Transcription

If you are looking to supplement your income or find a new career, then medical transcription could be the right move for you.

There are many benefits to becoming a medical transcriptionist. Some examples:
*You can work from home.
*Make your own hours.
*Save wear & tear on your vehicle.
*Save money on gasoline.
*Save money on buying office clothes.
*Save money by not having to pay for a babysitter if you have children at home.

It is quite easy to become a medical transcriptionist. You can go to school at a technical college for one year to get your medical transcription degree or you may opt to take the classes online to receive your degree.

Classes you will have to take to become a medical transcriptionist with a degree:
Medical Transcription I and II
Medical Terminology I & II
Human Anatomy
Body & Disease
Communications
Psychology
Law & Ethics
Pharmacology
A year long computer program.

The classes are quite interesting, especially Body & Disease. You will learn how to spell diseases, the causes of the diseases and the symptoms of the diseases. If you are interested in the anatomy of humans you will enjoy this program.

The Medical Transcription classes will teach you how to type the medical terms correctly. You will learn how to listen on head phones and type what the physician is dictating.

Medical Terminology is interesting as you will learn how to spell huge medical words and how a lot of words are a combining form. Such as “itis”. Itis means “inflammation.” You have heard of appendicitis. Appendicitis simply means inflammation of the appendix. Or another example is dermatitis. Derm means “skin” and “itis” means inflammation. So dermatitis means inflammation of the skin. You will have to learn how to spell the medical terms and define the medical terms to pass this course.

Human anatomy will teach you the names of the body parts, bones, muscles; you will learn how the heart functions, etc.

Some technical colleges will have you take communications and psychology as two courses you need to get your degree.

Law & ethics will stress the importance of confidentiality.

Pharmacology will teach you the medications, how to spell the medications and what the medications are used for. Many medications sound the same when you are typing them, so it will help you if you know the disease(s) the patient has so you can associate it correctly.

You will learn how to use macros and many tips on how to type and finish a document as quickly as possible. You can become a medical transcriptionist even if you are a poor speller. Study hard in school. Once you are at a job you will have a medical terminology spell check program or you can invest in the program if you work at home.

Medical transcription is truly a wonderful career choice or a fantastic way to supplement your income part-time. Do not let the courses scare you. Many people have found that the program is much harder than the actual job. This is great as you would rather go into a job highly knowledgeable and have the job be a breeze than vice versa.

There are many jobs available online. You will need to have a computer, headphones, and a Dictaphone to do the medical transcription job. Accuracy is highly important. After some time you will become very quick and make great money. Most companies pay-per-line.
