Use your musical talent to make money. If you know how to play the piano you can become a piano teacher. Even if you are limited on the piano, you can still teach beginning piano.
In order to make money teaching the piano you should also have patience. You will be teaching your students repetitive songs and steps. Your students may be young or even curious adults who have always wanted to learn the piano.
To teach piano lessons, first show your student where to place his or her hands on the piano. Show your student the note C. Make sure his or her hands are properly held in position on the piano.
Most piano lessons will be thirty minutes long. At first thirty minutes is a good idea as your students are learning a lot at once. You do not want to overwhelm your students. You want them to come back for their second and third lessons!
To charge for piano lessons check around your community and surrounding communities what your competition is charging. (In my area piano teachers are charging $10.00 to $18.00 for thirty minutes of teaching.) Make sure you are comparable to their rates. You may want to charge a little less, but it is not necessary. Do not charge too low or people will think you are not qualified.
To advertise you should use your computer to make an ad. Choose an interesting picture to capture people’s attention. Bright paper is a good idea to stand out from other advertisements. Hang your signs at the local and surrounding grocery stores, gas stations, Laundromats, etc. Also, send out e-mails to family and friends announcing your new endeavor. Ask them to please pass the e-mail to their friends and family in your area. Make sure you include your phone number and/or e-mail address at the bottom of the e-mail.
Prepare to work evenings and Saturdays as most children are at school and adults are at work. If you work second shift, you could always teach piano lessons in the summer when children are out of school.
Enjoy making money teaching piano lessons while brushing up your piano playing. You may teach other instruments such as the guitar, flute, drums, etc., in place of the piano to make money. For more information please visit: http://www.preparednessmentor.com/.
