Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast with Activities to Make Money

If you live on a farm than a great way to make extra money is to open your farmhouse to a bed & breakfast with activities.

First you will need to block one or two of your bedrooms off as a business. Keep the farmhouse bedrooms cozy and attractive looking so people will want to stay in them. If one of the bedrooms has a bathroom off of it, you may want to save that bedroom to rent out. When guests have their own bathroom this will make them feel much more comfortable. You are also going to rent that room out more than a room without a private bathroom attached.

You can offer a choice of breakfast by leaving a little note in the customer’s room. Have them check off if they want eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns, cereal, toast, pancakes or crepes for breakfast. This way you can be prepared for when the guests come down to breakfast. Offer coffee, juice and milk with the breakfast.

For fun activities on the farm you can let the customers milk your cows. This would be an awesome experience for most people as they have never tried this. Any other animals you have such as pigs, sheep, etc., they could feed with you. If you have horses the customers could brush them. Customers that bring their children will love this part of the stay at your farmhouse bed & breakfast with activities to make money.

You can offer hay wagon rides for customers. If you have horses let them take horse rides around your acreage. This would be very romantic at sunset for a couple to do.

Have a quaint front porch swing and wicker chairs available on your front porch for the guests to relax on and enjoy the countryside.

To advertise you can list your farmhouse bed & breakfast with activities to make money on Craigslist, your local newspaper, magazines, online to advertise for people coming from another state or country and at all local businesses. To get the word out you may want to offer a free day or charge $2.00 to $5.00 a child for the elementary school in your area in the fall. The kid’s can do face painting, gourd and pumpkin painting, ride small horses, feed animals, enjoy a corn maze, play in a “sandbox” filled with hardened corn kernels, enjoy hay wagon rides and tractor rides, climb stacks of hay bales, drink milk, etc. You can open your farmhouse for potential customers to tour and make reservations.
